One of the most striking airports in Central Asia, Ashgabat International Airport stands out not only for its technical capacity but also for its iconic architecture. Symbolizing the country’s national emblem, the Lachin bird, this impressive structure was designed by Tekeli-Sisa Architecture and constructed by Polimeks. Opened in 2016, the airport blends traditional Turkmen motifs with a contemporary architectural approach. The same bird-inspired form is also reflected in the terminal building, VIP areas, and parking structures, reinforcing the cohesive design language throughout the complex.

In the interior design, elements reflecting the country’s cultural identity have been carefully integrated. One of the key components of this process is the interior systems developed by Tacer, which stand out prominently. Designed in line with the direct preferences of the President of Turkmenistan, these systems successfully meet both aesthetic and technical requirements within the architectural framework.
Systems That Crown the Architecture
The systems implemented by Tacer in the scope of the project include bandraster suspended ceilings, metal hook-on ceilings, full-panel gypsum ceiling systems, and full-panel gypsum wall systems. These systems not only provide functional solutions in the airport’s large and high-ceilinged interior spaces but also complement the clean and elegant lines of the architectural design. Frequently used in areas with high passenger circulation, they offer significant advantages in terms of ease of use, durability, and low maintenance.
Technical Performance and Architectural Harmony
Tacer’s project-specific solutions address a wide range of requirements such as fire resistance, acoustic performance, integration with building services, and aesthetic continuity. These systems comply with modern airport standards while contributing to the creation of spacious, organized, and prestigious interior environments.
Ashgabat International Airport is a prime example of a project that blends cultural symbolism with contemporary architecture. Tacer’s unique suspended ceiling and partition wall systems play a key role in making this fusion possible. With its refined aesthetic approach and proven technical performance, Tacer continues to be a trusted brand in large-scale and high-profile architectural projects.
